ABOUT US
Learn Through Play
Applewood Learning Tree is a licensed in-home preschool that specializes in educating toddlers. We are located near 32nd and Simms and welcome children aged eighteen months to three years. Our play-based program is heavily influenced by Reggio and Montessori teachings and we keep our classes small with a 1:6 teacher-to-student ratio.
At Applewood Learning Tree, we believe that play is the best way for children to learn. That's why we offer a wide variety of materials and activities that cater to the individual needs of each child. Our classroom is thoughtfully designed to provide children with a fun and educational experience. We have a sensory table, art materials, play kitchen, reading nook, wooden blocks, trains, puzzles, and an arch climber with slide. We also have shelves with Montessori-inspired activities that change regularly.
We keep children engaged with music and literacy during circle time transitions. Additionally, we introduce bi-monthly themes to keep activities fresh and provide children with new materials and activities to explore.

OUTDOOR PLAY
We provide daily outdoor time for toddlers as we believe it's essential for their development. Outdoor activities allow them to explore and create their surroundings while satisfying their curiosity. Our backyard is spacious and equipped with various activities such as ride-on toys, a playhouse, a sandbox, a water table, and natural play areas. Children are also given the opportunity to help tend the garden and are involved throughout the process.
CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
We have created a space designed for children to learn through play, where they can engage with their favorite toys such as kitchen sets, blocks, trucks, baby dolls, puzzles, and more. We encourage children to explore and satisfy their curiosity. Our sensory table is regularly updated with themes that change every two months. Educational toys, fine motor activities, literacy materials, musical instruments, puzzles, and other resources are placed strategically on shelves and are rotated frequently.

ARTS AND CRAFTS
Children can have fun and explore their creativity by engaging in various arts and crafts activities. At Applewood Learning Tree, we believe that these activities help children gain a sense of accomplishment and take pride in their work. In addition to creating a masterpiece to be proud of, children can develop self-regulation skills, sharpen their fine motor skills, and improve their hand-eye coordination. We offer a range of art forms, from painting to using natural materials, so that your child can experience art in all its forms.
PRACTICAL LIFE SKILLS
Our daily routines revolve around toddlers learning practical life skills. These skills aid children in developing motor control and coordination, fostering independence, concentration, and a sense of responsibility. We emphasize taking care of oneself and the classroom environment, incorporating these skills into various activities throughout the day.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SKILLS
Social skills are vital for a child's emotional growth, whether it's sharing, caring for a friend in distress, or expressing emotions. At Applewood Learning Tree, we adopt a gentle approach to help children navigate through such situations. Our focus is on teaching children how to express their emotions with words, pay attention and listen, take pride in their accomplishments, develop a positive self-image, ask for help when needed, exercise self-control, and become more aware of other people's emotions.
